Nyx Scout License Terms

What Scout Is

Scout is the free tier of Nyx, provided by Tracenyx Pty Ltd. It gives you access to core Nyx capabilities at no cost, with no time limit, subject to these terms.

Scout is designed for engineers and teams who want to evaluate Nyx or run it in production at small scale before committing to a paid tier.

What You Can Do

• Use Nyx Scout in production environments
• Protect up to 3 namespaces across 1 cluster
• Use AI features within the daily query limits
• Evaluate Nyx for commercial deployment
• Use Scout indefinitely with no time limit
• File bug reports and feature requests on GitHub

What You Cannot Do

• Exceed 3 protected namespaces without upgrading to Sentinel or Aegis
• Use Scout across more than 1 cluster
• Use Scout to build a competing network security product
• Remove or obscure Nyx or Tracenyx attribution
• Redistribute, resell, or sublicense Scout
• Attempt to extract, reverse engineer, or replicate the enforcement engine

Data Collection and Privacy

By using Scout you agree that Tracenyx may collect and process the following from your cluster:

• Anonymised network flow metadata (source/destination namespace, port, protocol, allow/deny decision, bytes, timestamp)
• Kubernetes resource metadata (pod names, namespace names, labels, service names)
• Policy configuration (your NyxNetworkPolicy and NyxClusterNetworkPolicy specs)
• Health telemetry (DaemonSet version, node OS, enforcement mode, error counts)

By default, anonymised and aggregated traffic patterns may be used to improve Nyx AI detection across all customers. You can opt out at any time in your account settings.

Scout Limits

Upgrading Beyond Scout

When Scout's limits don't meet your needs, we offer two commercial tiers:

• Sentinel — up to 20 namespaces, 3 clusters, 500 AI queries/day, 90-day retention, full Windows support
• Aegis — unlimited namespaces and clusters, preferred data region, dedicated SLA, Git policy integration, private AI mode

Warranty and Liability

Scout is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. Tracenyx makes no guarantees about uptime, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose.

Tracenyx is not liable for any damages — direct, indirect, or consequential — arising from your use of Scout. Use in production environments is at your own risk.

We recommend testing any policy changes in dry-run or audit mode before enabling enforce mode in production.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will provide at least 30 days notice of material changes via email to your registered address. Continued use of Scout after that period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
